Why you don’t know what you want and how to understand it
Each of us has unique and personal dreams hidden in our hearts. But most often these desires are hidden all their lives under external pressure from parents or society. Commitments are disguised as goals we “should” strive for instead of what we really want.
For many of us, our goals are not like that our objectives; they have been handed down to us from others. Our dreams are not necessarily our dreams; they were passed down from generation to generation, and their dreams for us became our dreams.
All the key milestones for us are defined. Go to college, find love, start a career, get married, buy a house, have 2.5 kids, climb the career ladder. We’re going to check the boxes one by one until at some point (sometimes earlier in the trip, sometimes later) something feels right.
At some point we think Wait, what if there are more?
This thought is the first sign that it is time to reconnect with your inner voice. Taking the time to listen carefully to ourselves can give us invaluable insight into our true aspirations.
