Don’t be surprised when you look at the “pink moon” on April 6, 2023 and find it to be its usual bright but colorless self.
What is a pink moon?
The term “pink moon” refers to the first full moon after the vernal equinox, and its name actually has nothing to do with the appearance of the moon, but only the bright pink flowers known as wild earth phlox (Phlox subulata) that abound beneath bloom
The name originates from Native American tribes in the eastern United States, although it is also referred to by other names in various cultures, including Icebreaker Moon (Algonquian), Peony Moon (Chinese), Blooming Moon (Celtic), Moon Red color. Emergence of Grass (Lakota) and Frog Moon (Saanich).
What is the spiritual meaning of the pink moon?
A full Moon occurs when the Sun and Earth are aligned in such a way that we can see the full face of the Moon tilted toward us, rather than just a partial image. This light reflected from the Sun illuminates what needs to be cleared from our dark corners and released before we can begin anew.
Full moons are considered the most aligned time to look within and identify things that no longer serve you. This is when you are most supported in letting go of what was holding you back in your “old” life to make room for the beloved buds you so desperately wanted to witness.
The full moon has long been considered a spiritual time, usually associated with themes of rebirth and renewal. Its significance takes on even greater significance when the lunar phase coincides with the changing of the seasons, when the pink Moon is associated with some of the holiest days in religions and cultures—a reminder of a new cycle and an assurance that light always returns. In Hindu culture, it marks Hanuman Jayanti, or the celebration of the birth of Lord Hanuman. Passover begins with the Pink Moon, or the Passover Moon. Easter, which celebrates the resurrection, falls on the first Sunday after the so-called Easter month. In Sri Lankan Buddhism, it commemorates Bak Poya, a commemoration of one of the Buddha’s journeys into the country.

What you need to know about this pink moon
The Pink Moon on April 6, 2023 will be in Libra, a sign concerned with — in fact, some might say obsessed with — balance. Consider also that Libra is ruled by Venus, the goddess of beauty and love, so this is an inspiring time to focus on your relationships and partnerships.
Remember to slow down, breathe deeply, and listen as much as you speak. Also, are you taking enough care of yourself? Or are you stuck in someone else’s winter hustle and bustle? Ask yourself if you have been too focused on the darkness to see the beautiful light in this moment and also on the horizon.
This time also brings innovation, change, courage, and intuition, so look for ways to connect with your roots while continuing to move toward what you desire. The Pink Moon is quietly reminding you to keep your heads up, honey, or you’ll miss out on what’s to come.
