We have two new moons this Aries season. The second new moon, on April 19, coincides with a hybrid solar eclipse, which is a combination of a total eclipse and an annular eclipse (sometimes known as a “ring of fire”). Although its beauty will only be visible from parts of Southeast Asia, Australia and the Pacific Ocean, the solar eclipse and its effects will be felt around the world.
The solar eclipse will begin on April 19 at 6:37 PM PT and end at 9:56 PM PT. It will happen everywhere at the same moment. The New Moon, when the Sun and Moon are on the same celestial degree, will occur at 9:12 PM Pacific Time, within the eclipse window, and a few hours before the Sun enters Taurus at 1:13 AM on April 20th.
An eclipse is a time of revelations. They shake up our world and show us things we don’t want to see but must be aware of in order to grow. The current solar eclipse is in the final degrees of Aries and marks a time of closure and ending. It is still a new moon and carries with it all the potential for new beginnings. Consider this a preview of what’s to come.
What the solar eclipse in Aries means to you
This solar eclipse in Aries is full of fire and dynamic vibrations. Aries carries the energy of a warrior and teaches us to bravely and confidently overcome our fears. This energy combined with the eclipse helps us see the truth around us and face it, no matter how much we want to run away from it.
Because of their revealing nature, eclipses can disturb the nervous system. As this eclipse wreaks some havoc on you and those around you, know that it is ultimately for the best. It will be a busy time, and it may seem unbearable at times. Stay present to yourself and be open to receiving whatever opens up to you.
This eclipse is healing in nature. Keep this in mind when you are shown information that may shock you. This is all to help you heal, forgive, move forward and start a new path. The eclipse opens the door to a new journey for you and the whole team. First, it should help you see everything that is limiting you.
This eclipse shows you something that has already ended in your life, but you have not yet accepted. It puts situations that are over or going nowhere in the center so you can understand them. It shows you old patterns and habits that you know are not serving you and helps you release them.
Ultimately, it helps you to consciously acknowledge the end and finality of things to which you are still attached in some way. Often, we intuitively understand that something is over, whether it’s a job, a relationship, or a behavior. We know on many levels when something is no longer serving us. However, breaking away from this energy can be difficult. We cling to the usual and will do many things to hold on, including sacrificing our own growth. This is human nature. It’s just the way we are.
This eclipse sheds light on what you already know. By doing this, you are left with no choice but to accept what is and let go of what you already know is not for you.
The influence of the North and South Nodes on a solar eclipse
Eclipses are possible due to the proximity of the Moon and the Sun to the lunar nodes. Lunar nodes exist where the Sun’s path, or ecliptic, and the Moon’s orbit intersect. These are energy vortices, full of magic and potential.
When the Moon and Sun are within 17 degrees of either node, an eclipse becomes possible. This location also signifies the season of eclipses. Only at this time can an eclipse occur. The current eclipse season runs from April 8 to May 10, 2023.
Solar eclipses occur on new moons, and lunar eclipses on full moons. Just like the Moon and the Sun, the North and South Nodes are located within the zodiacal constellation. Currently, the North Node is in Taurus and the South Node is in opposition to Scorpio. This New Moon in Aries happens close enough to the North Node in Taurus for a solar eclipse to occur, bringing together the energies of the Sun, Moon and North Node to guide our evolution.
The North Node pulls the energy of society in one direction. In many ways, this is where we are headed as a collective. The North Node contains the lessons that humanity learns and integrates over a period of time.
The position of the North Node in Taurus helps to heal the collective, calming us down after a few chaotic years. It also encourages us to connect more deeply with nature to nourish ourselves and, in turn, focus on protecting it. As the North Node moves into Aries, there will be more focus on the self. This position helps us focus on how we can help the collective, prioritizing our soul’s purpose.
The South Node is what we leave behind as a society, especially the lower vibrations of the sign. It’s what the collective thrives off of, and often represents the vibrations we’ve already internalized as a society.
The South Node in Scorpio asks us to step away from chaos and trauma. It highlights the places where we are attached to drama and mistrust. It shows us the pitfalls of society as a way to create change and promote growth.
The Nodes officially move into Aries and Libra on July 12, 2023, when we will really feel these energies starting to affect us. When the South Node moves into Libra, it will be a more peaceful time. We will see how certain relationships have held us back. It will also highlight the injustices in our system and how the collective is tied to them.
Along with the general nodal positions, each of us has a personal North and South Node. (You can view yours at astro-charts.com.) The location of our North Node shows us where we are headed in our personal evolution and highlights the lessons we are here to learn in this life. We often resist these energies early in life, but soon discover that they are the key to understanding our life purpose and karmic path.
The position of our South Node shows what energies we came into this world and already know. It is a place of our comfort, but also a place that can block our evolution if we become attached to its familiarity. Our work in this life is to pass from the South Node to the North Node, leaving behind the known and mastering the unknown.
During this solar eclipse, we have the opportunity to make leaps both to the collective energy of the North Node of Taurus and Aries, and to our personal North Node. We can integrate these energies using the vibrations of the current North Node to help us understand our personal North Node on a deeper level.
Ask yourself how the highest vibrations of Taurus and Aries can help you integrate the energy of your personal North Node into your life. This may include healing through silence or communing with nature. It can focus on the abundance you already have in your life. Or it could be making your soul’s mission a priority and learning to say no without guilt.
This eclipse is the first in a series of eclipses that will occur on the Aries-Libra axis until January 12, 2025, paving the way for our evolution over the next few years.
Other astrological influences on the next solar eclipse
This solar eclipse coincides with Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto rules the cycles of our lives, including our trauma, healing and rebirth. As the energy affects you during this eclipse, feel the next phase of your life unfold before you, even if you’re not ready for it. Ask yourself what you need to heal in order to move to the next level of existence.
Also, honor any sadness within you as you say goodbye to old ways, people, or other energies. Allow the grieving process to happen. Aries tends to make us feel angry, frustrated, or impatient. When we dig deeper, we often find that the root of our anger is sadness and grief. When we don’t allow our grief to be felt, we feel anger instead of repressing it. In this eclipse, allow yourself to be sad. If you feel any anger, respect it as well and ask what it is hiding with its presence. When you say goodbye to things that are ending, you heal from any trauma they may have caused you. This eclipse offers you closure. Take it if you need it. Feel any sadness and release the energies that have long ended in your life.
With the Moon and Sun sextile Saturn in Pisces, feel your responsibility to yourself to heal. Remember that this eclipse is about you and your evolution. In order to grow into the person you are meant to be and fulfill your soul’s mission, you may have to give up some things. Feel your dedication to yourself above all else in your life. Make your path and mission a priority and know that everyone around you will benefit from it, even the people you had to say goodbye to.
When you commit to saying yes to yourself, it will be easier to say no without guilt or fear. Feel your resounding yes during this eclipse and realize what you need to let go of to stay committed to them.
The Moon and Sun also conjunct or conjunct Jupiter in Aries. This aspect reminds us of our potential. It prompts us to say goodbye, heal, and accept what is ending so that we can begin again brighter and more glorious. This eclipse is a process of rebirth. Some particles of your energy will be released, changed and transformed so that you can be reborn in new energy on the other side.
Align with the vibrations of Jupiter to help you see how brilliant you can be in this life. You have unlimited potential in your energy. Yes, you may have to brave the unknown to get there, and you may have to shed tears of grief, but your soul’s mission is waiting for you.
Your invitation
During eclipse season, be open to learning about yourself and others. Embrace the new version of yourself. You can live with complete satisfaction, ease and harmony of the soul. You can feel like you are living the life that was meant for you. It is possible, and it can begin on this solar eclipse. All you have to do is be open to the revelation, accept the healing, and be ready to be reborn as the person you always were and are in your heart.
