This week the cosmos initiates deep inner changes and retrogrades, each movement inviting us deeper into ourselves and deeper into life.

Retrograde Pluto in Capricorn

Pluto is at the edge of the known solar system. Far from our reach, yet deep within our beings, Pluto represents our inner reserves that are not often explored. It is our darkness, our vulnerability, our unconscious and our shadow self. It’s the crevices within that remain hidden and untouched—that is, until it’s time to travel with them.

The outer planet, which can remain in the sign until the age of 21, entered Capricorn in 2008. As an earth sign, Capricorn is concerned with the material world and resources. This is our planet of power, ambition, determination and discipline. It represents career, social structures and traditional values. It leads us to responsibility and maturity and asks us to master the path we are to master. And it shows us that in this way we create security for ourselves.

Pluto transforms everything it touches. With the dwarf plant in Capricorn, we have transformed our inner and outer resources so that we can stand on our own two feet. And we did this by first touching and excavating the spaces that existed both individually and collectively, where there was no responsibility and maturity, which existed where there was no safety and discipline, which existed where there was no right relationship with material resources. — that’s how we can restore and rebuild these territories.

Earlier this year, Pluto moved into Aquarius for the first time since the 1700s. Since this era-defining movement, he has lingered on the threshold between Capricorn and Aquarius. His time in Aquarius is a transitional moment before Pluto moves back into Capricorn from June 11 to January 2024, when we will return to our journeys of transformation over the past 15 years.

We may revisit these invitations before we truly begin the new chapter of Pluto in Aquarius. It’s fine-tuning who you’ve been changing into, affirming who you’ve become, and solidifying the transformation that’s been taking place.

During this time we are invited to reflect on our deepest inner transformations from the recent past. If looking back on 2008 makes you feel overwhelmed, consider the last time Pluto retrogrades in Capricorn, which was October 2022. What is your relationship with responsibility, authority, discipline and maturity? What have these areas of life taught you?

Mercury enters Gemini

While Pluto is our slowest planet in space, Mercury is the fastest. Excited, interesting, fast and mischievous, Mercury joins the Sun and enters Gemini on June 11th, where it will remain until June 26th.

In astrology, each sign has one or two corresponding planets that it owns and corresponds to. Gemini is for Mercury. They share similar natures and dispositions, intentions and general energy. While Mercury is in Gemini, it is at home.

Both Mercury and Gemini rule the mind, communication, learning, information, mental processing and information. When Gemini can focus on the realm of the mind, they act as a breath of fresh air, clearing out what has become stagnant and breathing new life into our mental world.

Our mind can shape our entire life experience. While Mercury is in Gemini, we are invited to curiously explore the mental constructs through which we filter our reality.

Is your mind open, free, filled with exploration, agility and curiosity? Or is it a feeling of stagnation, heaviness, limitation of vitality that needs renewal? Breathe life into the spaces of your mind. Bring curiosity, excitement and openness. This transit calls for new topics, activities, conversations, learning, reading and sharing—anything that will allow the mind to open, move and open.

Retrograde Saturn in Pisces

Saturn also underwent profound changes earlier this year, moving into Pisces for the first time in 27 years. This week begins Saturn’s first retrograde in the water sign of Pisces since 1996.

Saturn appears in our reality as boundaries, structure, responsibility and discipline. Saturn invites us to self-control and reminds us that it can’t be given, it can’t be rushed, and it can’t be achieved unless challenged again and again. Saturn also reminds us through various trials and tribulations that mastery cannot be achieved through reason alone. Rather, it should be experiential and integrated.

During the time spent in the last sign of the zodiac, Saturn invited us to master spiritual and emotional boundaries, spiritual and emotional discipline, responsibility for our emotions, our energy and our divine sensitivity. It builds a structure in our imagination so that we can use it as a tool of creation, connection and unity. He builds resilience in our psyche so that we can cooperate with him and master the unseen realms within us.

During Saturn retrograde from June 17 to November 4, we are invited to look back at the last few months of Saturn in Pisces and review what we have built, how we have grown, and what we have learned about our emotional world, boundaries, the power of our imagination, and the power that lies within in our sensitivity.

Retrogrades bring a sacred pause to integrate the journey we’ve been on before continuing forward. Allow yourself to step back, look within, and explore who you are becoming and what that means to you. What is needed for your emotional health? What is your relationship with borders? How do you take care of your energy health? How do discipline, accountability and structure support you? What does your connection with spirituality and unity need to support you?

New Moon in Gemini

Distinguishing the close of one week and the beginning of another, we meet the New Moon in Gemini on June 17th or 18th, depending on which part of the world you call home.

The new moon is the beginning of a new lunar cycle. She completely emptied herself to be reborn. Here we are also reborn. It is here that we plant the seeds that we want to bring to fruition. This is where we set the intentions, directions, and dreams we want to develop throughout this new chapter.

As we sit in Gemini season, the Moon joins the Sun and Mercury in the same sign, inviting new inspiration, ideas, curiosities, and a flow of communication. Neptune also makes its presence felt, offering a softness to what could otherwise be a rather analytical lunar time. Neptune invites us to raise our minds to higher consciousness, dance with possibility, and explore the realm of infinite ideas. Venus also welcomes herself in the arts that is this new Moon, bringing the mind into the heart, inviting loving expression, creativity and beauty.

This new moon is relational. It has to do with the chosen people in our lives and it has to do with the Divine. It is an opportunity to see the beauty that surrounds us, to feel oneness with the flow that is Life, to connect with our loved ones, and to enjoy the flow of ideas that dance in the collective consciousness.

Your invitation

As Pluto descends further into its retrograde return to Capricorn, it invites us to revisit the trajectory of the past 15 years, but condensed into a six-month visit. Pluto travels deep. It sinks in, sinks in and creates intimacy like nothing else. Where did Pluto travel deep within you? Where did you transform? How can you use these next six months to better understand this and begin to integrate the intensive transformation training program you are undergoing? Can you afford to dance with this transformation?

As Saturn joins Pluto in retrograde, you are again invited to deeper introspection as you reflect on Saturn’s last few months in Pisces. What has changed in you since March of this year? What invitations have you received? What is needed for your emotional health? What is your relationship with borders? How do you take care of your energy health? How do discipline, accountability and structure support you? What does your connection with spirituality and unity need to support you?

Although retrogrades may seem slower than the usual forward flow, Gemini in Mercury with the New Moon soon after can bring relief to what may have been a rough patch. Allow this inner reflection to inspire you and spark your enthusiasm, curiosity, and insight. Allow the new beginnings of this new Moon to draw and be inspired by the underworld that Pluto and Saturn travel through.

While Pluto and Saturn represent the more serious nature of humanity, Mercury and Gemini bring lightness to the introspection that takes place. They do this while offering an easy-to-digest, rational, and actionable understanding of what you get when you delve into the retrograde underworld. Mercury and Gemini bring lessons to the understanding, to the mind, and to a format that can be used to integrate wisdom into your daily life.
