This yoga sequence can reduce the risk of injury after a fall

The situation has not changed over the past few decades. This is reported by the CDC falls continue to be a source of health complications1 for seniors 65 and older. More than one in four elderly people fall each year.
For 27 years, I have developed techniques that help thousands of people ascend and descend safely in my therapeutic yoga.
Since we practice yoga mostly on the floor, this means that each of my students had to gain some experience getting down and up from the floor on their own. I like to make sure that every person I work with can get down on the floor and then get off the floor with as much grace as possible.
The most effective method I use for this is called therapeutic sun salutations©. I teach this to everyone, young and old, healthy and infirm. Everyone I meet gets their own version of this important practice.
I particularly like this practice because once the client learns how to use it, it can reduce the risk of getting stuck on the floor in the event of an accidental fall. They can also use it to check their body and self-assess how well they are moving and functioning at the moment.
