How to tune in to a cozy new moon in Cancer this weekend
This month’s new moon in Cancer will arrive on July 17 at 2:32 p.m. ET, and according to astrology expert Imani Quinn, we’ll all be feeling the energy of Cancer.
As a water sign, she explains, Cancer is sensitive, intuitive, and deeply committed to their loved ones. And the season of cancer itself, she adds, also marks the middle of the calendar year and the fertile energy of midsummer.
“So this is a great time to tap into two different aspects of Cancer energy: one—because they’re so committed to their family, friends, and community—you can be really conscious about who you spend time with and make sure that you fostering trust and love in relationships that are important to you,” says Quinn.
And second, she adds, this new moon in Cancer can also serve as a chance to renew your home (including the inner home you feel within yourself). “Cancers are very domestic, so this new moon gives us time to look at ourselves, to look and pay attention to the parts of ourselves that make us uncomfortable, that need to be seen — and they can be seen in the safety of our home,” she said. explains
Not to mention that every New Moon begins a 6-month lunar cycle, and in this case, we’re looking at six months from today until the Cancer Full Moon on December 26th. Quinn notes that this new moon can help us delve deeper into the emotional side of what we want to manifest over the next 6 months, helping to process your emotions to understand the root of your own feelings.
And of course, you can literally update your home under this moon. As the AstroTwins recently wrote for mindbodygreen, you may feel inspired to remodel or redecorate or even move altogether. “The Moon’s opposition to dark Pluto and harmonious trine to spiritual Neptune sets the stage for a feng shui, deep cleansing, or home blessing ritual,” they say.
Speaking of rituals, here’s how Quinn and the twins recommend spending New Year’s weekend.
