Eka Pada Pranamasana Yoga – Eka Pada Pranamasana is also known as One-legged Prayer Pose which is a balancing position. In Sanskrit eka, meaning “one”; pada, meaning “foot”; pranama, meaning “prayer”; and asana means “Pose”. Eka Pada Pranamasana is a combination of pranamasana (prayer pose) and vrksasana (tree pose).
Pranamasana is regular prayer pose which is used in Sun Salutation Pose. This is a very simple yoga posture and all beginner is familiar with this yoga posture. In this yoga position one leg foot, sole rest on the other leg inner thigh and both hands are placed in prayer position at the heart centre. Steps to do Eka Pada Pranamasana or One-legged Prayer Pose –
- Stand straight on the ground and keep both hands on your body side.
- Erect your body and look straight forward direction.
- Now take a prayer position by keeping your both hand at the chest centre.
- Slowly bend right leg knee and place the sole of the right foot on the inner side of the upper left thigh.
- The heel should be close to the perineum and the right knee should point out to the side.
- Maintain your body weight on the left leg and focus the gaze on a fixed point.
- Now you are in final position, hold this position as long as you can.
- Breathe normally during this yoga posture try to concentrate your mind.
- Repeat this yoga posture by standing on right leg.
